Thank You, Mr. Mosher

3' piece for concert band

In memory of Thomas Mosher

Thank You, Mr. Mosher was written in memory of the late Tom Mosher, conductor, educator, clarinetist, and friend. A lifelong Jersey shore resident, Tom earned both a BA and MA in Music Education from Montclair State College. He went on to teach music as the band director of Raritan High School for over 30 years. In addition to receiving many awards for his service as an educator, Tom was the editor of NJMEA's Tempo Magazine for more than 20 years.

I first met Tom in 2012 when I joined the Greater Shore Band's trumpet section as an 8th grade student. I learned many lessons from him as he served as assistant conductor, played marvelous clarinet solos, and engaged in rich conversation with his peers. When I went to college, Tom always made a point to ask me how I was doing-and he really cared. Whether conducting Cowboy Christmas, or playing the clarinet solos of Benny Goodman, Tom always showed up to rehearsal with a smile on his face, and that smile was infectious. It is impossible to put into words all of who he was, and what he was, but I hope my music carries his legacy on.
